    What is DMV EZ?

    DMV EZ is an easy way for Arizona residents to take care of Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) business, any time of the day or night, from the comfort of their home or office. Currently, Arizona residents can use DMV EZ for online Vehicle Registration Renewals, Personalized/Special Plates, Address Changes, ordering duplicate Driver Licenses and Identification Cards with or without an address change, obtaining a Restricted Use 3-Day Permit, viewing available Plate Credit, and for Driver License Reinstatement.

    How does DMV EZ work?

    How much does a duplicate Driver License or Identification Card cost?

    Duplicate Driver license or Identification Cards will cost you a state fee of $4.00.

    What is an Abandoned Vehicle Fee?

    This is a fee that is charged to the owner of a vehicle when the vehicle has been processed by MVD as an abandoned vehicle. The fee for abandoning a vehicle is either $50.00 or $200.00. An abandoned vehicle fee clearance from your record(s) may take up to 3 to 5 days to process.

    What is a 'Returned Check Fee'?

    This is a fee of $25.00 charged for a check that has been returned due to nonsufficient funds.

    What does 'Amount of returned check' mean?

    The amount of the check that was issued to MVD, plus any penalties that might have already been assessed, on a returned check for nonsufficient funds. A nonsufficient fund fee clearance from your record(s) may take up to 3 to 5 days to process.

    Who can use DMV EZ to obtain a duplicate Driver License or Identification Card?

    All eligible Arizona residents who currently have an Arizona Driver License or Identification Card with a digital photo on file can use DMV EZ.

    What services are provided through DMV EZ?

    What do I need to have in order to obtain a duplicate Driver License or Identification Card?

    Do I need to get a new photo?

    No. The photo used for a duplicate license/ID will be the photo Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) has on file.

    Can I have both a Driver License and an Identification Card?

    Arizona state law does not allow residents to have both a Driver License and an Identification Card. If you do have both, by applying for a duplicate Driver License, your Identification Card will be invalidated. This type of transaction can be performed through DMV EZ.

    If you do have both, by applying for an Identification Card your Driver License will be invalidated. This type of transaction requires that you complete a form to cancel your Driver License. This transaction cannot be performed through DMV EZ. You will need to go to the nearest MVD Office or Authorized Third Party Agent.

    How do I change my address?

    After I change my address, is it required by law to obtain an updated license/ID?

    No. Per statute 28-448, a person must notify the Motor Vehicle Division within 10 days of an address change. The statute does not require an individual to obtain an updated or duplicate license/ID with a change of address.

    Can I change my Driver License from a Class G (Graduated) to a Class D (Operator) through DMV EZ?

    Yes, you can change your Class G Driver License to a Class D once you have reached 18 years of age through DMV EZ.

    Can I change my name on my Driver License or Identification Card through DMV EZ?

    You cannot change your name through DMV EZ. This type of transaction requires you to go to the nearest MVD Office or Authorized Third Party Agent. Additional documentation is required for this type of transaction.

    What address can I have listed on my Driver License or Identification Card?

    DMV EZ allows customers to select either their residential address or their mailing address to display when requesting a duplicate Driver License or Identification Card.

    Note: The address displayed on your Driver License or Identification Card is the address that will be used for mailing.

    For what reasons may I request a duplicate Driver License or Identification Card?

    There are five reasons for requesting a duplicate Driver License or Identification Card through DMV EZ. These reasons are lost, stolen, destroyed, address change, or change the Driver License or Identification Card number when it is the social security number.

    Where will my duplicate be sent?

    Your duplicate will be mailed to the address that is requested to be displayed on your duplicate Driver License or Identification Card.

    What if my Driver License or Identification Card is going to expire in the near future?

    If your Driver License or Identification Card is going to expire within 6 months, you have the option of requesting a duplicate, or you can go to the nearest MVD office or an Authorized Third Party Agent and renew it. If you choose to obtain a duplicate you will still be required to renew at the time of expiration.

    How long will it take to get my Duplicate Driver License or Identification Card?

    You should receive your duplicate Driver License or Identification Card within 5 working days.

    When I receive my new duplicate license/ID, will it state "duplicate" on it?

    No. The duplicate license/ID will look like the original except it will display the new issue date and any minor updates (address change, SSN removal, under 21 removal, etc).

    Once I receive the duplicate license/ID, what do I do with the original license/ID?

    Upon receipt of the duplicate license/ID, the original must be destroyed. The most current license/ID must be used for proof of identification.

    How can I change my Driver License or Identification Card number when it is my social security number?

    You will be given the option to change your Driver License or Identification Card number from your social security number to an MVD system generated number.

    To whom will my Driver License or Identification Card record information be released?

    The Federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act 18 U.S.C. 2721-2725, as well as Title 28, Chapter 2, Article 5 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, specifies that the personal information contained in your Driver License or Identification Card record may not be released to anyone without your consent, except when it is a matter of public health or safety, or when the individual or entity requesting such information is otherwise authorized to obtain it under federal law. However, during the duplicate process, you may consent to the release of your Driver License and Identification Card record information to any individual or entity that makes a proper request.

    What is an organ donor?

    Someone who gives the gift of life by donating organs for transplantation.

    Who can be an organ donor?

    All people - regardless of age - can be considered as potential organ donors. Medical suitability for donation is determined at the time of death.

    How can I register to become an organ donor?

    Effective December 18, 2005, a driver license, commercial driver license, instruction permit, or identification customer may authorize the Division to release their name and address information to the Arizona Donor Registry by checking a box on the application. You may also register anytime by visiting www.servicearizona.com and clicking the Donate Life logo or by calling 1-800-94-DONOR for a registry form.

    DMV EZ is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day with the exception of the following time periods:

    What forms of payment are accepted?

    You may pay with credit cards or check cards. Check cards are linked to checking accounts and are accepted anywhere credit cards are accepted. Check card purchases are automatically deducted from the linked checking account.
